A few months ago, we released a little unconventional recruitment post on LinkedIn: Board member/Chairman wanted. We were more than surprised with the amount of people that were interested in working with us, and felt grateful to speak with many seasoned and passionate professionals willing to encourage people to start minding their own businesses more. Thank you all for the great discussions!
Finally, we decided not to go with one but two new board members to join our board of directors. Both bring unique expertise and perspectives that align with Laavu's vision and values.
In this short article, we will introduce these new board members, explore their backgrounds, and hear what they think about Laavu!
Joel Järvinen: An expert of (Hyper)growth and international business
One of the new additions to Laavu's board is Joel Järvinen, a seasoned business professional with a wealth of experience in growth companies and new technology.
Joel's impressive background includes leading Uber Nordics during a period of hypergrowth, and currently, he is working as the General Manager of Wolt Finland. During his time with Uber, Joel witnessed the company's rapid expansion from just over 1000 employees to a staggering 30,000. This firsthand experience in managing and navigating the challenges of a rapidly growing company uniquely positions Joel to provide valuable insights and guidance to Laavu.
Joel's international experience further enriches his perspective. Having accumulated significant experience abroad, he brings a global outlook to the table.
Reflecting on his decision to join Laavu, Joel expressed his fascination with the company's unique culture and enormous potential. Having experienced the pains and challenges that come with growth, he is well aware of the importance of supporting professionals, especially in supervisory roles, during periods of rapid expansion.
"Hypergrowth in companies is familiar ground to me. I know the pains that growth brings, and the kind of challenges that typically need to be solved. A characteristic of mine is also fearless boundary breaking in order to accomplish big, meaningful things. What intrigued me about Laavu was its unique culture and the enormous potential it has."
Anmari Brick Pacius: Seasoned Board Professional with Legal Expertise
Another valuable addition to Laavu's board is Anmari Brink Pacius, an experienced board professional. Being a lawyer by education and occupation, Anmari brings in-depth legal expertise to Laavu. Anmari is also Laavu's new Chairman of the board.
At the same time, her extensive experience as a board member in several different boards enhances the performance of Laavu's board of directors.
Anmari got particularly interested in Laavu because she finds the psyche and psychology incredibly interesting. At the same time, they aren't yet discussed often enough, and there is a lot of untapped potential in the market.
"There is still much to be done in society regarding how acceptable it is to discuss themes related to taking care of one's mind. At the same time, people's minds and well-being are crucial to a company's strategic success. As a pioneer, Laavu has enormous potential in this regard. Physical well-being is already widely discussed, but the psyche is an undervalued resource."
